It has gone unmentioned, but I have also taken up painting while in Missouri this year.
Missouri at its best.
We've been on shore for a while now and all of us are itching to get out again. After some tedious months of waiting in a marina or in a hotel we are in the final stretch. The boat is on the hard and we are looking towards a push off date sometime in late December. I can't say that we haven't appreciated our time on land though. We've gotten to visit with friends and family in the states that we may not see for a while. I got to see my cousins, grandmas, aunt, and uncles. Plus, the added bonus of hanging out with my grandma's dog. He's so adorable! I'm writing this blog as we're in the car driving towards Florida where we'll be staying in an Airbnb before moving into yet another hotel. We'll be getting our final things out of the way, such as shots, dental work, and Christmas presents. You may be thinking it's early to be getting presents, but we won't want to ship things to islands when we have an opportunity to buy them now. I know for certain my mom has already gotten some. I'm almost positive I'm the only one that hasn't gotten any yet. I'll also be trying to get ahead in school. In the time it's taken for me to write a new blog, summer vacation has come and past. I'm now in my final year of middle school and I've started studying using a new program, FLVS Flex. This program will allow me to have the flexibility I need on the boat. I don't need to submit anything by a certain date. I am more in control and I can get as far behind or ahead as I would like. (Though I would much rather avoid the first option). Schooling will be much easier with my mom now in almost complete control. She will be giving me assignments for places we travel, and I’ll be studying the history of the countries we visit. The Bahamas were warm, sunny, and beautiful but they were so similar to the U.S. Their views were substantially better of course, but I’m bouncing on my heels for a chance to reach a place where a different language is spoken. Or the houses don’t look like something from America. Or the culture is more colorful. Sometimes when I’m talking to my parents the conversation of where I’d want to live when I’m older will come up. I always say I’d want to live in Florida in either St. Petersburg, Tampa, Sanibel, or Captiva. Or I’d want to live in Virginia near the history and the mountains. I have very polar opposite places in mind. But my dad always says I should wait and see the places we’re going; he thinks it will change my mind. I don’t know if I agree but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to go. My mom wants to go to Fiji most, at least I think. She likes the idea of sitting on the water next to an island with all these different things to do. My dad wants to go anywhere in the South Pacific. Heat is their friend. I most want to visit Europe. More specifically Rome, and Greece. The mythical gods and goddesses have always excited me and urged me to want to discover more about the history of the Roman Empire and Greece. But since we won’t be travelling there on the boat, I would want to go to Mexico, Australia, and Singapore. I’d want to go to Mexico for the food and the color. They seem like such an interesting place to be. Australia seems like it’s be fun and I’m not ashamed to admit that I REALLY want to see a wild kangaroo. And if I’m being perfectly honest, I want to go to Singapore because of the food and Crazy Rich Asians. (It’s one of my favorite movies). I’m so excited to be in places with such a strong culture and history. I’ve always had a interest in history, and now I’ll have the opportunity to see the places where it took place. Expect more blogs as we get closer to our push off date!
